INFJ refers to a person whose cognitive functions prioritize in the order of Introverted Intuition, Extroverted Feeling, Introverted Thinking, and Extroverted Sensing.  They are commonly referred to as belonging to the Sage archetype.  Despite being the rarest type in society, they are very common among communities which follow depth psychology or MBTI.  The following are ten ways to tell if you are an INFJ:

1. You’re Introverted, but your friends disagree.

It is rather common for INFJs to have circles of friends with whom they are constantly extroverting.  Despite needing to recharge batteries after social encounters, they can appear completely natural and comfortable throughout.  Their strength in social situations comes from an ability to use Extroverted Feeling to navigate the feelings of surrounding people, in addition to a grasp over aspirational Se.  Extraverted sensing allows INFJs to assert their presence in a room for everyone to use them as the focal point for interaction, or to make others feel safe or comfortable.  As a result of maturity, aspirational Extroverted Sensing in coordination with Extroverted Feeling allows INFJs to become the life of the party.

2. You’re a perfectionist (Which sometimes makes you procrastinate).

Due to always striving for perfection, INFJs can sometimes find themselves procrastinating out of a fear of failure.  But realistically, they can complete the project they are afraid of failing at with a quality which would far surpass the capability of most people.  Still, the INFJ naturally seeks absolute perfection and will never cease in their pursuit because all critiques stand out in their memory, washing out any positive feedback due to the negativity of introverted sensing demon.  With maturity though, INFJs can overcome the paralysis by allowing themselves to make mistakes and achieve results with an amazing self confidence in the field of their choice.

3. You can sometimes find yourself mirroring the people around you.

Often, INFJs can find themselves adapting to morals and behaviors of those close by.  This can allow them the motivation amongst a group of highly capable people to push forward towards the perfection they desire.  Conversely, they can be dragged down into negative circles where becoming addicted to anything from video games to drugs is inevitable.  Regardless of the quality of people INFJs surround themselves with, they are excellent social chameleons.  Something which they can often leverage with careful planning.

4. You can will your way through any hardship.

INFJs have an incredible ability to overcome severe circumstances of hardship and trauma through their sheer willpower.  Even when it looks like they are losing, they are hanging on and pushing forward to the future that they desire.  Only reaching their goal will assuage their determination.  INFJs can often leave others astonished as there is always a next step on the staircase, and they will always force themselves to make the next step a reality through even the most difficult of times.

5. You are future focused.

Always looking towards the future, INFJs use willpower to push forward.  Often manifesting through relationships or employment, where they would be more than willing to end a relationship if they did not see it going anywhere or would start looking for a new job if they did not see a future within their company.  To further complement this, they can find themselves being highly critical of circumstances in the past and will only seem to remember the bad experiences that they were exposed to.  To avoid the negativity of their memories, INFJs prefer to live with their mind laser-focused on the future.

6. Freedom is extremely important to you.

In being future focused, INFJs will visualize a path forward to the destination that they desire.  Taking away their freedom or setting up unnecessary roadblocks is undesirable in that pursuit.  Anger is not far away from any person who has laid such obstacles.  This is because the path which they have chosen is highly calculated and while they think optimistically about the dream, the present moment delaying them from reaching it is a major pet peeve of the INFJ.

7. You are focused on what is right.

INFJs feel compelled to protect the marginalized and weak, resulting in them having a reputation for becoming “social justice warriors.”  This leads them to take professions in areas such as medicine, and if they decide on a career where helping people is not involved, devoting time towards charity work is common.  They are also afraid of being a bad person, which gives motivation in doing what they believe to be right.

INFJs will also often find themselves standing up to bullies on other people’s behalf or supporting someone through a difficult time in their life.  They are known for trying their hardest to mediate arguments, as keeping the peace in social situations is a strong conviction for them.

8. Your biggest requirement in a relationship is loyalty.

There is nothing INFJs love more in a person than loyalty.  There is nothing desired more than creating their own wolf pack where extreme loyalty can both flow from themselves and others freely.  From their desire for loyalty, they can sometimes find themselves conducting “loyalty checks” where they will put someone in an unpleasant situation to test their loyalty.  Desire for loyalty causes them to remove anybody who betrays their trust, even for things other people would consider trivial or presumptive.

9. You tend to be right.

That’s right, INFJs are constantly right.  Whenever it comes to a logical process, they will be dead on the mark as to what is correct.  When they are wrong, it’s usually only because all the information was not available at the time when the logical process was assessed.  When they have the information, though, INFJs pride themselves on their accuracy and resulting usefulness to others.

10. You find yourself feeling guilty a lot.

INFJs will often go from feeling zero guilt, to being overcome by it.  This is because an INFJ is fearful of the idea of being a potentially bad person.  This motivates them to do what is right and causes involvement in volunteer work.  Even then, they can be vulnerable to guilt as a manipulation tactic.  Only having confidence in their status as good people by receiving recognition from others protects them from those tactics.
