CS Joseph Responds to the Acolyte question how does an INFP know their beliefs are accurate?

Transcript:

Welcome to the CS Joseph podcast. I’m your host CS Joseph. And today’s question. Very interesting INFP related questions all you inf peas out there who’ve been waiting for some INFP content.

Here you go. I think it’s a fantastic shout out to the guy who asked this question. It’s been great to have a question like this. So I’m very happy to provide the response.

So and yeah, so here we go. So the idea of becoming the INFP, destroyer of ignorance, keeper of wisdom is very cathartic and deeply motivating. Since becoming a member, I’ve paid way more attention to the ignorance of my own ignorance, as well as my thoroughly unpracticed ability to submit to and champion the truth as a complement to my principles and belief system. Is this person admitting to their own confirmation bias? I wonder? I hope so.

As a type with extroverted sensing trickster obliviousness, how can INFPs more accurately assess their progress in running toward truth rather than away from it? Oh, yeah, what a question. Oh, this is great question. This is like the best question like a month or two, like, this is fantastic. Thank you for asking this question.

Alright. So the the answer really is, is it comes down to your ability to experiment with the truth. In order for you to actually get to the point where your TI demon can accept something that is actually true, it’s very easy for you to internalize what you yourself as an INFP actually believes is true or false. But the differences is that you can have that internalization, and you can value it and weigh it out.

Like yeah, it’s likely true. So yeah, it’s going to, I’m going to believe it’s true. But that still doesn’t actually help. Because this is as a result of your very deeply embedded inductive reasoning, dude, you’re expert and thinking inferior.

So what that means is, is that the way you think is, if it talks like a duck walks like a duck, sounds like a duck looks like a duck, it must be a duck. But the reality of the situation is that not may not necessarily be true, you have all those qualifiers, that the object is actually a duck. But that doesn’t mean it is truly actually a duck. And that is the weakness of inductive reasoning.

Whereas deductive reasoning is the exact opposite. It assumes everything about the duck, all the qualifiers of the duck are actually true. And then what it does is it seeks to subtract the things that may be less true over time to see if there is enough leftover to still qualify it as a duck. And then in which case, there wouldn’t be so because it requires to have all of those pieces in order for it to be a duck plus, even potentially more.

And then it also looks to see what what if there are other things that have the same qualifiers, that could also be not a duck, for example. So that’s more of a deductive reasoning approach, but your inductive reasoning, and since you’re just raw inductive reasoning due to TI demon, and due to Te inferior, extra thinking inferior, it becomes very difficult. And the thing is, is that you don’t have the expert sensing to see the reactions from other people around you and how they react in order for you to actually, you know, figure out that what it is you’re saying or doing or teaching is or what your opinion is whether or not it is actually true. And you’re often caught up in your own little world, your TI demon creates an echo chamber within your own head.

So it makes it almost nearly impossible for you to figure out whether or not you’re actually progressing towards the truth as a complement to your belief system, whether or not your belief system and your principles actually line up with the truth. And the answer that question, really, if I was an ESTP? The answer is practicality. And practicality actually comes from extroverted sensing, because, for example, if I was an ENFP, and I was like, mentoring you with my INFJ, subconscious, and you’d be like my apprentice, etc, which is very typical of what, you know, EMT or ESTP is do with INFP is basically what ends up happening is that the ESTP be like look, it’s nice that you know all those things. It’s nice that you believe that’s the truth.

But unless I actually see you back it up with your own life experience, experience with your own experimentation, and you experimenting with this thing that you believe is true, etc. And unless you yourself have personal life experience to back it up, I’m not going to believe you. And this is where ESTP has had that perspective. I’ll believe it when I see it.

But the people out there that benefit the most from all believe it, as I see it, literally is for INFJs is because of their expert sensing trickster. And if you can’t practically practice, you know, or have a practical application of what you believe is true. And you’re not willing to get off your ass and get out of your comfort zone to actually test out those principles in the public or in real life or with other people. And if you’re too afraid to do that, then you’re going but then it’s as if you didn’t actually you may as well be living a lie anyway.

And that’s the point. The ESTP is trying to teach you like it doesn’t matter what your principles are doesn’t matter your belief systems, it doesn’t matter what you think or believe is true. Because the reality of the situation is unless you’re willing to actually go out there into the field and field test your principles field, test your belief system, field, test your truth, even though I hate the term your truth in quotes, because your truth is actually just a bold faced lie. There is no such thing as absolute truth.

And don’t believe me? Well, if you’re going to tell me that something was not true, I’d ask you if that was a true statement. And he’d say, Well, yes, that is a true statement, which means that would like cancel it out. Which means the remainder after being canceled out means that truth is leftover. Therefore, logically speaking, there is a such thing as absolute truth.

Because otherwise, you could just say, No, you’d agree with me, and then we’d still be back at the original which would mean absolute truth. So regardless, you can’t get around that absolute truth does exist now as to whether or not absolute truth is knowable by a human being. That’s the actual true debate. It’s just like people trying to tell me like an atheist tell me Well, God doesn’t exist.

And I’m like, actually, God does exist. I mean, intelligent design has to be true. It absolutely it’ll just look at psychology. It has to be true.

That the real debate is which intelligence made us or designed us that’s that’s the real debate. It’s not about whether or not an intelligence did or not the soul just whatever folks, little bit of existentialism added to this particular episode, I don’t care. So but the thing is, is that like, the ESTP, is the one who is actually assessing your principles, your belief system as an INFP. You can’t really self assess, you have ti demon, okay, this is this is no different than the same experience anyone would have if they took the Bucha [email protected] J.

Dot EPP if you guys haven’t taken the test, go check it out. That’s a new interactive CS Joseph test, we’re going to be releasing it soon to the public. And we’ll be replacing the tests we have at CS Joseph dot life. But the point is, is that like, when if anyone wants to take these little personality tests, it’s not good enough, oftentimes, it’s not good enough for they themselves to self assess, because they really don’t know themselves like other people.

And you have to rely on the extroverted, not the introverted in order to come to the truth. So and the ESTP in this particular example, represents the extroverted because they’re like, look, unless I see that you have life experience to back up, whether or not your principles and belief system is actually true, whether or not you’ve actually gone out there and field tested, and experimented your principles and your belief system to see if they line up with what you believe is true. And if and if that’s if you’re not even willing to do that, you’re too lazy. And you may as well be living a lie.

Because the reality of the situation is the ESTP knows that any and every truth or fact has to be testable in some capacity. This is why the scientific method exists, even the scientific method is actually a terrible system to process information. Because if you have the wrong input, you’re obviously going to get the wrong output. And quality of input is the biggest problem with the scientific method.

The scientific method is literally just a regular ti process that can be followed. The problem is it doesn’t mean that will always produce truth. Because if you provide the scientific method with the wrong input, and most of the time, at least 80% of the time, in my opinion, because hashtag Pareto principle, the output is going to be wrong. And you have people out there say, well, the scientific method said so and I’m like, Yeah, but you provided the scientific method corrupt data to begin with.

So which is done the vast majority, four out of five times anyway, so what the hell are you talking about? And it’s so funny to me when even inf peas like to purport or support that notion with me, and I just laugh at them. And it’s like, no, you ignorant. So yeah, like, how can you accurately assess your progress? Well, it requires a third party. The other thing is, is that you can assess your progress.

But the thing is, you have to do it with with third parties, you have to be willing to share your belief system with other people, you have to be willing to share, you have to be willing to go the extra mile with people as a result. And if you’re not willing to do that, then you’re you’re really in a quandary, because that’s the only way you’re going to be able to prove it by showing and sharing with others and then testing it you have to experiment. But the INFP has to be willing to get off their ass they have to be willing to embarrass themselves and they have to be willing to take the negative thoughts and put their status and their lifestyle on the line in some cases in order to prove that motion and a lot of INFJs are unwilling to do that and then they continue to live in their confirmation bias echo chamber within their own heads that their ti demon grades, and it’s pretty sad. And oftentimes people just really can’t get over that they really just don’t get it they can’t they can’t handle it.

INFP is just ended up being the worst. And like I said, the ESTP says it’s like, great. It’s nice that you have that principles. And I say that the police says it’s nice that you believe that’s true.

Where’s the life experience? Where’s the experimentation? Where’s you getting off your ass to prove it? Like, are you sharing with other people? How are they reacting to it? Are they testing it out with you? So this is like, this is like how I approach the Type grid. A lot of people are telling me will cite your sources for everything, you know, CS Joseph, which I do at CS Joseph dot life forward slash reading. And if you actually download the companion guide, you can see my bibliography there. It’s funny actually, it’s like a letter that about me that Linda, Dr.

Linda Behrens wrote about me years ago, to a guy who didn’t like me on the CSJ, Discord, whatever. And talking about, you know, is CS Joseph, violating Linda Behrens copyright. And I just have to laugh at that because no one bothers to even look at the bibliography. No one bothers to look at my citation in the actual published work that I put out there, that’s just absolutely ridiculous to me.

No one understands that so. And if you do want to see my bibliography, go to CS joseph.ly, forward slash reading, or you can see all of the books there that I utilize to arrive to my conclusions. And then also download the companion guide CS Joseph dot life, scroll down a little bit, click the Get companion guide button, throw in your email, it will be emailed to you and then download it. It’s there it is, and then go to like the final page in that little ebook.

And then at the end, it has the bibliography with all of the sources cited. Great. And there you go. And it’s got Dr.

Linda Behrens, right there. I think I even have an acknowledgement section where I thank her in there. So whatever you believe what you want, but the reality of the situation is I hold her in very high esteem. So and just like Dario Nardi, and Dr.

John Beebe, so it doesn’t matter. But yeah, that’s really that’s really all you got to do to test your to accurately assess your progress and running towards the truth. Instead of away from it, it literally comes down to field testing what you know, and then figuring out whether or not your principles and belief system actually line up with reality. And if you’re having a hard time seeing reality, do your best and maybe do it with somebody else.

It’s one of the reasons why I ENFPs are affiliative they are interdependent, trying to be a team. So get a research team going and then go out there and find out what you believe whether or not it’s actually true. It’s not hard, you just have to test it get out of your safe comfort zone and be willing to put your status and your reputation on the line and you will find the truth. That is after all, everything your TI demon is trying to teach you to begin with don’t believe me? Go watch how to master your TI demon in the members area CS Joseph dot life forward slash members grab a journeyman membership and go watch the How to master your demon series.

It will definitely answer those questions. So if folks sounds good, thanks for watching, and I’ll see you guys tonight.
